The wedding of her Glee alter ego Brittany S. Pierce (to longtime girlfriend Santana) may have drawn up more hype, coming as it did during the series finale of the hit show, but Heather Morris‘ real-life wedding to Taylor Hubbell on Saturday, May 16, 2015 had even more charm.
Appearing in the current season of Dancing With the Stars, Morris recently performed a choreographed cha cha to “Shut Up and Dance” with pro partner Alan Bersten, that recalled “the best year of her life” – the year of her wedding.
The couple selected Old Canyon Ranch in Topanga, California, a rustic wedding venue in the L.A. area that unfortunately closed last year. Outdoors amid dozens of trees, they said their vows in front of friends and family, under a natural wooden arch adorned with white flowers and green ivy. The guest list included several of her Glee castmates, including Naya Rivera, who played her onscreen wife, Kevin McHale, Jenna Ushkowitz, Grant Gustin, and Vanessa Lengies. Many of the guests, who viewed the nuptials from wooden log stools or stone benches, dressed to match the ceremony’s blue-and white colour scheme.
Morris accessorized her romantic sweetheart-cut white lace gown with a jewel-studded belt, and pinned her veil to a hairpiece that gave her a romantic sideswept ponytail. The bride, who worked as a touring backup dancer before her turn on Glee, wore flats on her wedding day, which meant plenty of dancing with her hubby and friends at their outdoor reception. Guests dined on four different kinds of white frosted wedding cakes, seated under strung lantern lights at long wooden picnic tables.
Her seven bridesmaids wore long, draped dresses in varying styles and shades of blue. Hubbell and his groomsmen wore tan suits with blue shirts and ties, and the couple’s 19-month-old son, Elijah, who served as pageboy, had a cute wedding suit of his own. They rented a photo booth from Snap Yourself for the occasion, and everyone got into the costume-friendly spirit of the crowd-pleasing wedding activity.
All Occasions Event Planning coordinated the celebration, and guests shared photos from the event online under the hashtag #TheHappyHubbells. The couple welcomed their second son, Owen, in February 2016. Morris, now 30, has said her groom, with whom she first connected on MySpace, keeps her grounded though his life outside the entertainment business. Hubbell played college baseball, and works at a golf course in Los Angeles.
