When actor David Henrie married former Miss Delaware Maria Cahill on Friday, April 21, 2017, among their 170 guests were several members of his longtime TV family on Wizards of Waverly Place, including Selena Gomez, David Deluise, and Jake T. Austin.
After a traditional ceremony at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Wilmington, California, the newlyweds were delivered to their oceanfront reception venue in a classic Rolls-Royce, where they posed for photos and mingled with guests before dinner. The newlyweds first dance was to “Hold On” by Michael Buble. The multi-course dinner included truffle mushroom ravioli, a de-constructed caprese salad and seabass.
Henrie, 27, who also appeared for 9 years as the son on How I Met Your Mother, wore a custom tux from Indochino with a white bowtie to honour his father, who had also worn a white bowtie when he married Henrie’s mother. Cahill, 26, wore an A-line, full-length gown featuring beaded Alencon and Chantilly lace by Enzoani. The high-neck and lace sleeves were reminiscent of one Old Hollywood bride. “I liked the Grace Kelly vibe growing up, so I went in with a plan which resulted in me picking out my dress the first day I tried it on!” she told People in an exclusive interview.
Henrie and Cahill met two-and-a-half years ago at an event in Los Angeles. He proposed by taking her, and her family, on a trip to Catalina Island, off the coast of Los Angeles, in October 2016, but didn’t announce the news publicly until January. The newlyweds will spend their honeymoon at Sandals St. Lucia in the Caribbean; this is the first marriage for both.
“You always hear you should marry your best friend, and I actually get to do it,” Henrie told People. “You don’t meet girls like her every day.”
