Janet Jackson, who has a three-month-old son Eissa with Qatari billionaire invetsor Wissam Al-Mana, 41, has split from her husband of five years. The news was made public today. Jackson has been based in London for several years, and will reportedly remain there with her son following the impending divorce.
Jackson, 50, was previously married to singer James DeBarge (which was annulled after one year in 1985), and dancer Rene Elizondo, Jr. – to whom she married entirely in secret, with the news of their 1991 marriage only becoming public when Elizondo filed for divorce in 2000.
Meanwhile in Los Angeles earlier this week, Friends star and director David Schwimmer announced an official separation from his wife Zoe Buckner, with whom he shares a five-year-old daughter, Cleo. They met when Buckner, 31, was working as a cocktail waitress at the swank Cuckoo Club in London’s West End. She served Schwimmer, 50, while he was directing a film in the UK. They married privately in June 2010 after she relocated to L.A.
They released a statement through Schwimmer’s representatives: “It is with great love, respect and friendship that we have decided to take some time apart while we determine the future of our relationship. Our priority is, of course, our daughter’s happiness and well being during this challenging time, and so we ask for your support and respect for our privacy as we continue to raise her together and navigate this new chapter for our family.”
Both couples kept their relationships largely out of the public eye – neither released photos from their respective weddings, and here’s to equally peaceful splits for each former pair.
