As a celeb, when you get married outside in California, expect helicopters. Former Clueless and Scrubs star (who now appears on TV’s The Exes) Donald Faison, 38, married Cacee Cobb, 35, in the backyard of his pal Zach Braff’s L.A. home, and the helicopters full of paparrazzi zoomed. But, the sweetest shots of the newlyweds were shared on the party host’s Twitter page, showing off the blushing bride in her strapless gown with sweetheart neckline and jeweled bodice, with a wide floral-embellished skirt. She wore her hair down, eschewing a traditional veil.
Maid of honour Jessica Simpson, Cobb’s pregnant best friend who was escorted down the aisle by Braff, wore an elegant black gown with red rose bouquet, her hair down in a vintage Veronica Lake-inspired ‘do. While the groom and groomsmen (Braff, singer-songwriter Joshua Radin – who performed for the couple’s first dance, and Faison’s brother, former child actor Olamide Faison) wore classic black and white tuxes, Cobb’s bridesmaids wore a spectrum of dark colours in black, green, blue, and purple. In fact, all the women in the bridal party wore their hair down in waves. Her father, Ed, escorted her down the aisle, and Simpson’s father, Joe, spoke at the reception, calling Cobb a third daughter.
E! News reports that the ceremony was attended by 75 friends and family, conducted under a white tent decorated with white twinkling lights, and featured a gospel choir. The couple said “I do” in a ceremony that lasted just 20 minutes, including handwritten vows, and was “filled with laughter.” (Believable, considering the lighthearted photos.) After the ceremony, the couple incorporated the “jumping the broom” tradition before they walked back down the aisle as husband and wife after their six-year courtship.
The down-home style Southern wedding was put together by L.A.-based party planners Bash, Please and catered by Whoa Nelly, People reports. Guests including Ashlee Simpson, Seth Green, Sarah Chalke, Elisa Donovan, Breckin Meyer, and Stacey Dash dined on fried chicken, collared greens, and sweet potato pie. Instead of a wedding cake, dessert included apple pie, butterscotch pudding, and red velvet mini-cakes.
Aside from the first-dance tune by Radin, entertainment was provided by bluegrass band the Get Down Boys, and ’80s cover band Knyght Ryder.
Yesterday on her official website, Simpson posted a photo from the wedding, a shot of her and Johnson, with her bouquet strategically placed around her midsection. She called Cobb, “the most beautiful bride I have ever seen in my life.”
And, as if to answer our query from yesterday’s post, Braff did confirm on his Twitter page that he did not, in fact, run around the newlyweds with sparklers. Too bad…
