According to reports at RadarOnline, singer/fashion mogul Jessica Simpson and her fiance, former NFL tight end Eric Johnson (a Yale grad), are planning an imminent wedding ceremony in Hawaii over the Christmas holidays, flying family members out on December 21st and reportedly promising them that they will “make a big announcement.”
While it’s possible this “big announcement” is her surprise, still unconfirmed, second pregnancy, Us Weekly already blew the early lid on that news late last month, and reports say that her family was already aware of the pregnancy by the time it was leaked. It’s believed that Simpson had already intended to wed before the end of 2012, signing up as a spokesmodel for Weight Watchers to help shed her baby weight (and subsequently infuriating her benefactors when she and Johnson pulled the goalie before she reached her target), but that plans for a big ceremony were derailed as she dove into helping her lifelong best friend Cacee Cobb plan her wedding – which is today! – to Clueless and Scrubs star Donald Faison, and then a wedding seemed even further off after revelations that her father slept with gay escorts and cheated his family out of money ended her parents 30-year marriage, and she discovered she was expecting again before Thanksgiving.
But it appears that Simpson and Johnson are adopting a “there’s no time like the present” attitude to their wedding, as a source tells RadarOnline, “Jessica is certain that she wants to get married before her baby is born, and isn’t bothered if she’s showing in any wedding pictures. She just wants a relaxed and intimate ceremony and has been dropping hints that the big day could be right before Christmas.”
While it doesn’t appear likely that Daddy Joe will make the guest list – he reportedly tried this week to bait Jessica into talking to him at an L.A. restaurant with promises of job offers and she’s said to have told him where to go – sister Ashlee, mom Tina, nephew Bronx and daughter Maxwell, as well as her BFF Cobb and new hubby Faison, will no doubt make the trip to Hawaii for the purported ceremony.
This will be the second marriage for both – Simpson was famously (and career-makingly) married to pop singer Nick Lachey from 2002-2005, in a TV wedding that aired on their hit MTV reality show, Newlyweds, which ended right about the time the demands of fame tore the marriage apart. Johnson filed for divorce from first wife Keri in January 2010, meeting Simpson five months later. When the divorce was finalized in October 2010, Johnson prepared his proposal to his new love, and the couple announced they were engaged in November 2010. Daughter Maxwell Drew was born in May 2012, and it’s believed that Simpson will give birth to her second child in June or July next year.
